with rump steak?

The orrible greasy caf provided chips for Linnea to eat with her ketchup, and even did me a nice non-greasy poached egg, which was lovely. Emer and Linnea also had beans. Memo to self: bring own napkins in future as the caf's supply appear to be actually waterproof.

Linnea is in nursery, and we all popped in to the Workhouse Coffee Shop for non-caffeine drinks and -

That noise from the kitchen was Emer playing the hanging cups like a xylophone using one of our lifetime guarantee sharp kitchen knives with almost unbluntable edges as a drumstick. I think I'm going to be sick. I obviously left it out for her.

Ugh.

If I remember correctly, rump steak can be tough because it is rather lean. I'd marinate it well to tenderize and grill it, or braise it in wine or beef broth with lots of onions and maybe mushrooms or peppers. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.

Rump steak is one of my favourite cuts of beef. We grill it (I very occasionally bake it in foil) or slice it very thinly and turn it into stir-fry with huge amounts of vegetables.

And as you know, Bob, children will get into everything. Don't beat yourself up too much about Emer getting hold of a knife.

Another idea would have been Cornish pasties - they are good made with rump steak, diced onion, potato and swede!
