I have new sandals! Gobi on this page, in "triple blue" strap colour. They are so incredibly comfortable I might die. I hope they still are in a week's time. The shop where I bought them measured me feet - something Clarks have refused to do in this town - and gave me a little lecture on the changes to the bone structure of feets in pregnancy, which was nice as it showed they knew what they were talking about.

The sandals support my feet beautifully. They are lovely to my arches, have adequate toespace so that my little toes aren't squashed, don't chafe the broken and badly set second toe on my left foot, don't slide around on my feet when I run, have air-padded heels, and a guarantee.

I will be having these guys fit my next pair of winter shoes, which are likely to be some kind of walking shoe or boot too. I haven't had shoes that fit this well since I was a kid. They measured the distance from my heel to the ball of my foot and there to my toes seperately. They took width measurements. They made me walk around in the sandals while they looked at my feet at ground level to check the fit.

I was very glad I'd cut my toenails recently, and to my shame I was pleased I'd shaved my legs a while ago; my leg hair grows more slowly in pregnancy so they are not very carthorselike at the moment.

And they come with a water resistant carry bag, which will almost certainly do duty as Yet Another Messy Sack For The Nappy Bag in due course.

And I will cheerfully wear them with a skirt or trousers. And it's already mostly above 10C/50F outside so it's not too cold for sandals.

Happy dance!

When it's a bit warmer I am going to have to go to the local good outdoors shop for similar. My existing sports-sandal things are about 3 years old and deteriorating.

There was frost on the bicycle this morning, so I am not that hopeful, despite what Tony says about fractal seasons.
