9 days old
May. 9th, 2004 10:00 pmLinnea is 9 days old now, and has had three baths. She didn't like the one in hospital given by a midwife, but thoroughly enjoyed the two she had here at home. When we left hospital on Wednesday she had lost 5 oz (approx 140g) and when we weighed her again today we learned that she has gained 9 oz (approx 255g). The midwife is pleased. She's also pleased with how well I'm healing - the bruising is much reduced, and the one burst stitch I have (discovered late last night) isn't going to be a major problem unless it gets infected. Today I maanged to give Linnea a bath and one nappy change, sitting down, as well as feeding her (obviously no-one else can feed her). Rob took another afternoon nap.
We're using cloth nappies and finding them much easier and pleasanter than disposables, though we will use disposables when we leave the house for any length of time - dragging used cloth nappies around with us could get tedious fast, I think, and will need to wait until I'm a lot more able.
Apart from the nappies, Linnea generates a lot less laundry than expected. She uses fewer nappies than we expected, too, but that's probably because she was born later than she should have been - she skipped the newborn nappy-filling stage.
I'm a milch cow, primarily, these days. And Rob continues to be a hero.
