I want to go back to bed
May. 7th, 2009 10:35 amLinnea and I ate something and both got back to sleep eventually. Then Rob left for work and Emer woke up so that was that.
I've run the dishwasher and the washing machine. I've removed one of two stairgates still up post-guests, which hurt my hands. I need to sort dry laundry, wash everyone, get dressed.
I don't want to.
Today's whine: When moving dirty dishes from the table to the empty, ready-for-dirty-things dishwasher, why pile them somewhere else in the kitchen first? From A to B - why via point C?
Things to do today: Mount new shelf in kitchen for teatowels, put highchair back in attic, put rucksacks back in attic, swap over mattresses in spare room, re-rinse and hang a ton of damp laundry, see bathroom guy about quote at 6 pm, clean bathroom first, make everyone lunch, bake bread, call health visitor about breastfeeding awareness week party, buy Linnea sandals (yeah right), tidy rear hall, tidy dining room, tidy front room, tidy front hall including clear coat racks, sort extra cutlery and crockery for storage, dismember something small and fluffy with my teeth, eat chocolate cake in a mug. Rob made me a lovely chocolate cake in a mug at bedtime last night.
11:00 am - put away a load of clean dry nappies ready to use, got both children to brush their teeth.
12:00 - washed two drainer-loads of dishes, ran the dishwasher again, sorted two loads of dry laundry, rinsed two loads of damp laundry for hanging, sorted the bathroom a bit more (soap, loo-roll etc), failed to interest the children in lunch.
14:00 - hung two loads of wet laundry, put Linnea's wet bedding on to wash, emptied dishwasher again, fed everyone beans and couscous for lunch, forgot to mention showered and dressed earlier, sorted huge bags of mixed rubbish in the kitchen into recycling and landfill (ew), did the day's moneywrangling, cleared the dining table, started planning another Big Storage Space Re-Org.
21:00 - Made chicken soup with the stock from Sunday's roast, sorted under-stairs cupboard and reorganised bag storage, took winter hats out of circulation, tidied children's games, lego and k'nex into under-stairs storage, sorted through 7 complete packs of playing cards and 8 incomplete ones (we haven't played cards much since Janice went to Canada so of course we have 15 packs in the house), brushed Emer's teeth while she cried, discussed bathroom with plumber, checked the children won't be given too much natural or added sugar while away at the weekend (poor, poor Emer), fretted a lot about Emer's teeth.

Date: 2009-05-07 09:52 am (UTC)I put stuff waiting to go in the dishwasher (which is in the laundry room) on the bit of worktop next to the door into the laundry room.
Ever since we got the dishwasher, Rob would bring his morning drinks mugs downstairs and place them carefully on the worktop next to the kettle (ie on the other side of the kitchen).
Then one day, several years later, he put his mugs carefully on the Waiting For The Dishwasher Worktop.
Which was great. Except that it was the day after we had cleared the laundry room ready for the building work, and the dishwasher was sitting unplumbed in the lounge.
And they say women's brains are incomprehensible.
