It is unutterably delicious to see them with each other. Emer helps Linnea hold the mayonnaise jar. Linnea helps Emer cut pieces of a magazine. They make sandwiches together or for each other. They bicker, and resolve things, and resume affectionate interactions.

I don't remember getting on well with my sisters at all, as a small child - and family lore tells that we didn't; the older three did up to a point but myself and my younger sister were pitted against each other by familial roles and operated on a playmates-who-loathe-each-other principle for about 15 years.

My children appear to have a relationship so far outside that I can't imagine how they feel. But it's beautiful.

That's lovely.

My sister and I fought like tigers all the time we lived at home together. It must have been horrible for our Mum.

Same here - I think the age gap has a lot to do with it. My sister was 7 when I was born, and deeply resented this demanding, screaming brat that suddenly arrived, putting herout of prime position.
Linnea and Emer, on the other hand, are closer in age, and you've worked hard at helping them become close friends. I think it also helps that they have very different personalities.
