Well-a-day

I've cut out circles for hatbrims (see under: Halloween party) and Linnea and I made pancakes. Linnea and Emer painted. I washed the coffee maker (drip-filter thing from Sweden) and ran it through with a full reservoir of water, then made a couple of mugs of coffee in it. I'm delighted; it's delicious, and the hotplate bit means it was hot when I got around to drinking it.

For lunch we had the chicken soup from the slow cooker, made with stock from the carcass from Saturday's roast, a butternut squash from Linda's allotment, and various market veg.

I postponed Emer's nap until after lunch, which was wearing but worthwhile. When she wakes up we need to go out and go to the printer ink shop, the phone shop, and the coffee shop, to get an ink cartridge replaced, my unlocked phone picked up, and some more coffee. I really, really love living in a place with locally owned and run shops.

On Monday a nice man brought it back to us. We have the frame, the wheels, and the box. We need to replace the hood, front and rear lights, panniers, baby buggy, locks, and bungee cords. We may need the gears and brakes repaired, and I have a nasty feeling the steering mechanism isn't all it should be. I'm not taking it on the road until Rob has had a chance to cycle it to see if it steers right (if it tries to steer him wrong, he has more chance than I of salvaging the situation). We are in the process of getting insurance sorted out to pay for repairs.

And then I'm going to do damage to our front hedge so that I can park it off the street unaided, and that's what I shall do.

I hope they enjoyed their joyride.
