"But when we have the new baby, mum..."
Jun. 6th, 2009 12:44 amLinnea was talking about the new baby again today.
She's really keen to have one.
It's strange, because I remember Emer's early days as very hard for Linnea, full of sudden compromise and challenge and being neglected and passed over, but if I look at how Linnea actually behaved, it's clear that they were mainly positive for her.
The nights, now, they were hard, and nothing Linnea will ever say will convince me otherwise. Not having me instantly available at night was hard for Linnea.
But nonetheless she wants another baby. And so do I... The trouble is that the easy, fascinating part is so incredibly brief, and after that it's just as fascinating, but much harder.
Those first couple of months though - where every couple of hours something new happens, some new skill or level of thinking develops - if they ever synthesise it I'll become an addict gladly and with an open heart.
And so will Linnea.
But I bet Emer finds it a hell of a shock.
(Note to the reader: No, I'm not, and I'll tell you when I am, but it won't be for a while yet, ok?)

Date: 2009-06-06 12:15 am (UTC)For what it's worth, Elena is constantly talking about "her baby sisters" - they seem to have taken the place of any imaginary friends she might have. At first, we tried to explain that there wouldn't be any babies. Now we just nod and follow the story.
