We're halfway there, and today we brought the children with us to see the 20-week ultrasound. Linnea spent the morning reading our little book about puberty and reproduction, and the time in the ultrasound room absolutely wide-eyed and wide-mouthed and delighted. Just reading the little book was a huge deal for her;

"Is that how the baby in your tummy was made?"
"Yes, and that's how you were made."
"WOW."
"And that's how I was made."

She almost fell over with amazement. Who needs miracles when you have biology, which is quite astonishing enough?

She was astonished every time she saw anything identifiable on the ultrasound. Emer was impressed too, but nothing like as much, of course. Linnea wasn't as impressed when she was watching Emer kicking around inside, either.

We got a taxi there, because my SPD will no longer allow me to walk up hills with impunity, and the taxi had built-in carseats - the one for Linnea was excellent and the one for Emer would have been adequate if we hadn't had our own, which we have. The whole seat clicked up into place and then there was a drop-down section with a five-point harness, so the child is boosted up to see out the window and ride higher in the car, the head is better supported, and small enough kids can use the five-point rather than the three-point adult belt. We were very impressed.

I have at least 5 friends producing babies this year, and I think you know 4 of them (the remaining one is imminent, friends-through-work).

Given the usual habit of waiting to 3 months before announcing, there's time for several more.

I will *not* be having a baby this year :)
