Rob and Pat Kight make a mean curry. They are a good team.

And Linnea reminds Rob when he forgets or runs out of some of the spices, which is cute.

In other news, Rob liked his birthday gift, which Emer gave him after work today. He was touched by the signatures. Linnea is refusing to hand over the card she made him, but I'm sure she will eventually.

I've been thinking about the tightening of belts, and wondering where ours can be tightened (in terms of general budget, not unusual expenditures). I'm not willing to compromise on much, is the problem. I might do a charity-shop trawl for shirts for Rob, but since it's really hard to find sleeves long enough anyway, I don't hold out much hope. We will probably end up eating less and less meat, since meat is expensive and pulses are cheap. Soon we will switch from cold cereals with rice milk to porridge, and that will help.

But I don't want to stop the local organic fair trade ethical consumerism kick. We're nothing like poor enough to justify it. In point of fact, we're rich.

But spending it all.

High waisted trousers are totally coming back - I already have a couple of pairs, and tried on a couple more yesterday but they weren't the right size.

I don't know how long it will be until they start filtering down to charity and vintage shops though; you might just have to Primark it for a season.

(and before anyone jumps down my throat about Primark using sweatshop labour, so does everyone else - in the case of some "luxury" brands, the _same_ sweatshop labour!)
