"In winter, I get up at night
And dress by yellow candlelight.
In summer, quite the other way:
I have to go to bed by day."
Linnea is NOT HAPPY with waking up in the morning and going to bed in the morning. I wasn't there for the argument but I heard the ensuing wildness through the ceiling. Rob left the room and turned the light out an hour ago; she's still intermittently making thumping noises.
I shall have to explain that sometimes the moon comes out in the daytime and sometimes the sun is still out at night. And try to find a decent book with pictures of why.
We're going to get her a globe for her birthday, anyway - one with blue sea, because she doesn't like our tiny one with white sea. I'm not sure what else to look for in a globe for a small child.

Once you have a globe (make sure it is a properly tilted one) then you can use a lamp to be the sun and show how the amount of light falling on the globe changes with the seasons by marking the UK on the globe and then moving the globe around the lamp.
