The old one dominated the room a lot. The new one dominates the room a little. We're working on it.
I'm going to take photos of the library again tomorrow; we've changed some of the shelving again and it's looking a bit better.
What we really need to do is build built-in book-depth shelves for that whole north wall, with the telly set into a recess in the middle of them, but that leaves the amp (which does occasionally get used) and the speakers (ditto) sticking out like sore appliances.
*nod* I really hope we can manage built-in book depth shelves somehow in the new place (when we find it - there's still too much snow on the ground here for us to be looking at property yet *sigh*). The Ivars that are our current bookshelves take up far too much space, and force a lot of double-stacking.
I love the rich rust colour wall and the fish print in back of the TV. And your library is very cool... Other than science-fiction, what kind of books do you have that would be representational of your tastes/likes?
In fiction, most of the SF/F is Rob's, and my fiction is, um, most of the rest. I have quite a lot by women. Quite a lot that I consider chick lit though I suspect it's mainly too highbrow to qualify. About two feet of Georgette Heyer.
The next largest section I have, other than general fiction, is biog.
Then travelogues.
Then parenting books.
I think mainly what my books tell you is that I like reading about people.
I have a very small poetry and drama section, and we share a shelf of dictionaries about the same size.
