Book: Tooth and Claw

I've read my first Jo Walton. It took a while to get into, but quite quickly became engrossing. I will be reading more. It was, as one of the little blurbs inside the front cover said, Jane Austen with dragons. I was charmed. I like a little light romance :)

But it's NOT Jane Austin with dragons. It's Trollope with dragons.

It got me to read the Barchester novels, actually, because I wanted more books in the "Tooth and Claw" universe. Worked, too.

So, if you want more books like "Tooth and Claw", read Anthony Trollope's books on which "Tooth and Claw" was, quite deliberately and consciously based.

Interesting. I've always found Trollope very very hard to get into, and, since he's not someone in my social Venn diagram, not worth the effort. Tooth and Claw was also not grabbing me - last night I wasn't sure I'd make it to a quarter through before giving up - but proved worth it.
