I went into a Claire's Accessories today for the first time in ages and ages. I was amazed. All the tiny punks and goths in town get their gear here! there are little skulls-and-crossbones Alice bands beside Barbie-pink legwarmers.

I got Linnea some hairbands, and myself a tiny digital watch shaped like a mobile phone; it clips onto things, currently the zipper of my handbag. I also got some armwarmers; they are like long-sleeve fingerless mittens. In rainbow stripes. It's all very peculiar. Still, at least now I won't have to take off and lose my watch every time I want to hold the baby in my left arm.

I have that watch. It clips on my bra strap so I'm (marginally) more on time..

Kate has no taste. Last time we were in Claire's I suggested that she bought a black pirate headband & she chose some pink mermaid bungees. She's not related to me!

I have wished many times that I had invented Claire's Accessories, I could retire on the sea of pocket money fripperies. Its not bad marketing though - they also have a reliable stock of simple stud earrings, plain hair ties etc for every day use.

BTW - regarding pushchair. I'll get it down and if its useful I'm sure we can find a way of transporting between here and Reading. I sometimes have to come out to Winnersh for work and if I don't in the short term there is likely to be someone shuttling between.
