My baby is three months tomorrow and she has developed nipple preference. She's never had a bottle, of course. What she would prefer is my hormone-driven nipples that spray milk down the throat at the merest brush of baby lips. These weird freaky ones that need to be sucked on anger her greatly. She screams herself hoarse. Sometimes manually expressing until there's milk on the surface of my skin helps, sometimes not. It's worse when she's tired.

The way you describe it makes me laugh (especially because I used this morning's over active let down to try to do something about her cradle cap - she's little but her wtf expression is very eloquent) but that must actually really suck. Good luck with helping realise sometimes she actually needs to do some work.

And I thought I was going mad and imagining my little boy had a preference for my right nipple over my left ;-)

At first I thought my left boob is a bit bigger and harder to manage, and he never seemed to feed very long on the right, and it seemed to hardly have much milk most of the time.

Then I realised a couple of days ago that it's the right boob that has the fast flow and very persistant spraying.

I try to feed him from the left side until it is empty, but he just plays with the nipple and ends up increasing suply :-(

Aaaah!

If I never offer him the left boob, will it dry up and leave me in peace to feed him with the right?
