Z is for Zebra crossings, marvellous things when people notice they exist, and less useful otherwise. My pet peeve is people who roar up to the zebra crossing at full speed, braking a foot away, and then glare at me for not having crossed as they approached. My new pet peeve is cyclists cycling across them.
Z is also for Zabaglione, which is some kind of foodstuff I don't know anything about, but also a fabulous rolling-off-tongue word which I strongly suspect would make a marvellous swear.
Z is for Zimbabwe, oddly not in the news any more. I found it very odd listening to conversations between the white Zimbabwean woman I managed in my last workplace and the black Zimbabwean woman who sold her lunchtime sandwiches.
