I had a pen-pal who used to address his letters to α because he thought that was funny. Wikipedia says "aleef" means "domesticated" in Arabic. Perhaps I need it on an LJ icon.

Aleph and beit mean 'ox' and 'house' in Hebrew; presumably, food and shelter are the first two things to worry about.
