It has been a good day.

Linnea slept through; we all woke around 8:30 and we listened to her playing for half an hour before she asked to come in to us. Rob even went down and made tea. While he was down, she opened her bedroom door and asked me to open the stairgate outside it.

We got up gradually, and had snacks instead of breakfast, and I listened to Women's Hour on Radio 4, which had a little bit about c-section, which was mostly great, but had one woman who had done a hynobirthing class and had a seven-hour labour with no pain relief who said "Anyone can do it." I was fine until she said that - it sounded lovely, and I do think women who can have natural births should be given every opportunity and encouragement to do so, but no, it's not true that anyone can do it. So I screamed "FUCK YOU!" at the radio, startling Linnea and somewhat shocking Rob, and making my throat sore. But I felt a lot better after that.

After we were all up and dressed, Linnea played while Rob and I did a little housework, and then we set her up to paint while we sorted more books into Librarything, and we listed some stuff on Freecycle (books and old audio tapes and some computer stuff) and then she finished painting so we had lunch.

Linnea can feed herself soup remarkably tidily for a child her age, but she gets very upset when she spills on her bib. We had to stop the meal a few times to wipe the bib up. It would have been easier if she'd agreed to a special toddler spoon, but no, "Daddy pecial spoon, Nea grey spoon." Firm nod.

After lunch we went out for a walk; Sweet Masala first, where she ordered a popadom without parental assistance, and then to the park, with swings and slides and lying down in the damp grass to go to sleep. We came home via the co-op, where we bought various foodstuffs and only left when we realised I was trying to buy up the whole packet mix baking aisle due to crazy pregnant lady syndrome, and the library, which was closed, so Linnea cried.

Rob made pancakes for dinner using a standard recipe and rice milk, and they worked beautifully. We also ate a fruit salad I'd made earlier; strawberries, melon, and pear, with the juice of a blood orange. Linnea likes squeezing oranges.

After dinner Linnea watched Wallace and Gromit and Rob and I put more stuff into Librarything. There's less than a metre to go before we finish the west wall of the library.

Linnea refused to bath alone, so I got in with her. It was a little more exciting than bathtime is supposed to be, but I'd forgotten how much fun it could be. It's very important that I wear a showercap in the bath. That's How It's Done, don't you know. Turns out that Linnea believes the baby to be in my bellybutton, not just anywhere in my tummy. She washed my back, too, and pushed Rob's hands out of the way when he tried to help. Very authoritative, my daughter.

So then I fed her and Rob put her to bed, and here I am. It has been a lovely, loving, peaceful day, and we are all three very happy.

Liam also gets horribly upset when he gets "gogurt" on his bib. Especially his animal bib - gogurt on animals is the worst of all.

I took every bath with Liam up until he was probably a year or more old, but we haven't done it sense then. I bet it would be fun, except he'd want to spend the whole time nursing - that's his immediate reaction to seeing me topless.

who said "Anyone can do it."

Why do people EVER say these things?

They should stop. Anyone can do it.
