ailbhe: (out with linnea)
[personal profile] ailbhe

It's a glorious day, and we've finished all the morning's housework, and we've made a crown all covered in pompoms (and disassembled it; there are feathers all over the dining room), and we're having our snack before going to the park.

So the telly is on, because that way I get a much quieter snack. The more pregnant I get the more telly Linnea watches. Right now, we're watching the show with a presenter I find confusingly attractive. Rob says it's because he shares specific characteristics with my favourite ex, and I think he's right, but I can't help thinking there's something specifically peculiar about having a little crush on a children's tv presenter.

Various people I know are having very difficult times right now - personal and family tragedies and traumas, life complications, or "just" burgeoning depression. I feel slightly frivolous to be eating flapjacks in the sun from the bay window, watching cute gangly men on toddler television. I am thinking of you. I just don't have the faintest what I can do to help.

"can't help thinking there's something specifically peculiar about having a little crush on a children's tv presenter."

normal.
107% of boys have crushes on Blue Peter presenters, for example.

There's no age limit for this stuff. Trust me, I'm OLD.

Okay, which presenter does it for you? I'm rather keen on Chris Jarvis (generic CBeebies but also Mr Mopple from Step Inside) but have a soft spot for Justin Fletcher too - he does Tikkabilla, the signing show, and Higgledy Piggledy House (which is clowning, and, well, you know, CLOWNS).

Ah, Sarah Jane - it's the grin, isn't it? Very odd.

Amit Sharma? Yup, another attractive one. Do they pick them so that adults won't mind watching the same progs over and over, do you think?

You've got me at it too, now!

OldBloke says "he's a skinny bastard" but hey, look at him! Paul, that is, not OldBloke...

I don't think he's particularly skinny, just lanky. And I don't remember thinking Rob was skinny, either (it's been a while since I saw him, mind). I think OldBloke's just jealous, what with being portly.

I was going to offer to look for a more suitable picture but thought that might not actually be appropriate...

No, not jealous. He's _too_ skinny. No pecs _at_ _all_.

Portly, eh? You're not too big to be (cont. p94)

I don't think the pose in that picture helps the matter.

I was smiling reading your entry as I also adore Paul from Tikkabilla. He was on this morning & Kate told Andy that "mummy likes Paul" *blush*****

As far as I am concerned, it lightens my day and warms my heart to see a happy frivolous post from you. You have been through more than enough for anyone, and deserve your happy days. It also serves to show that the light at the end of the tunnel may not be that of an oncoming train.
Be happy, eat flapjacks, play with your 'Nea.
As for tv presenters, you can keep your young gangly ones, just send me David Gower, the ex cricketer!

Sometimes, it's helpful to see that friends are happy and enjoying life.
(Especially if they've had difficult times, it's a relief to see that they are having a less difficult time).

Your book arrived yesterday! It's shiny, and lovely to read.

I like reading about the daily things that you and Linnea do, especially the things which make you happy. Sunshine much needed as the weather has been dull and grim lately.

I unashamedly used Disney videos in the afternoon in my late pregnancy to occupy Kate for an hour & a bit while I slept on the sofa. On a good day, she also fell asleep & I could nap a bit longer.

Holly loves Teletubbies & tells me the names of each one when they come on the screen & claps etc with them. V cute & we watch the afternoon one together when Kate is at school if we're at home. Personally, I'm a bit teletubbied out as Kate loved it too.
