ailbhe: (playing with linnea)

Rob left for work this morning in a delicious Yves Saint Laurent suit (I really must come up with reasons for him to wear it at home, not just when I can' tsee him) and Linnea and I got up much later.

Within an hour of getting out of bed, we were washed, dressed, the laundry was on, the dinner was almost made, the washing up was done, breakfast was awaiting her majesty's pleasure (she prefers her porridge cold), the two downstairs rooms were tidy, and we were ready to watch Teletubbies. Then we ate breakfast.

It feels good to be back on a normal schedule again.

Tidying the library now involves opening the curtain and taking the tiebacks down from the curtain rail. Our curtain tiebacks are made of a loop of braid twisted into a single strand, leaving a small loop at either end to hook over the, um, hook thing that you hook curtain tiebacks to.

Yesterday I looked up from my book to see that Linnea had untwisted one. One end was hooked to the hook, the other end of the loop was around her neck, and she was leaning fowards off the windowseat. Um, yeah. Right. OK. Clearly my babyproofing wasn't as good as we thought it was. It had never occurred to me that she might try to hang herself on the curtain tiebacks. But they're dealt with now. If I could find a sewing needle I might stitcc the twist along the length so she can't unravel it.

At some point Linnea insisted I play Rosie Rosie with her. So I took teddy's paw in one hand, and Linnea's paw in the other hand, and started to sing "Ring-a-ring-a-rosie." I was interrupted by a squeal of indignation. "Teddy FEET!"

I bent double and played so that Teddy's feet could touch the dangblasted floor as we sang. This will not be possible in another few months. My back didn't approve. But it was incredibly funny.

Uhoh. Teddy wants cake. From the urgency, Teddy NEEDS cake. Luckily a ricecake is adequate. Phew. That was close.

She has great trouble with Itsy Bitsy Bider. The bider won't climb up the spout for her. She can't quite get her thumb-over-finger-over-thumb coordination right. And she doesn't believe me that it's not important.

And at lunchtime (scrambled eggs on toast) I spilled her water all over her arm, leg, chair, and toast. Yup, we're back to normal.

Yay for normality! We're having a normal day too :) Holls is napping, Kate's at nursery, I'm reading my friends page while the kettle boils & then I'll be sorting out some avon brochures to deliver after school.

I love when my husband wears a suit too. Makes them look so distinguished and polished.

Glad you're getting back into a schedule. I wish I could get Alie and I on one, but I'm terrible with them. I like to fly by the seat of my pants.
