A book with my name
Jan. 31st, 2006 12:12 amWell, I found today that there's a book out there called SnakeCharm with a main character called Ailbhe. It was published in September 2004.
Which is also the month that the game using my passport photo without permission was published, I think.
Anyway, I just wondered if anyone here had read it. I already know I can't, because I've gogoled and found not just an extract (where someone says "gender" instead of "sex") but some slashfic. Nope, I'm not reading it.
The author has been publishing since she was 14 - she was 20 when this one came out. So that's nice.

Date: 2006-01-31 12:33 pm (UTC)I am Irish, yes. Though it's likely that at least one out of sixteen great-great-grandparents were from somewhere else. We can trace some of them but not all. There were - ah - political problems with Irish genealogy records, in the 1800s.
Ireland is gorgeous in places and godawful in places, like everywhere else.

Date: 2006-01-31 03:55 pm (UTC)All the great-greats on my Dad's side were here in America, but some of them actually came over on the boats. We're able to trace them to probable counties based on what *they* told people, but not necessarily finding corroborating church records or valuation records to nail them down over *there.* I guess my third cousin and I are going to use various kid and marriage registries to see what we can find. So far i'm pretty sure about
Boyds from Down, Flynns from Meath, Bruders from Tipperary, and Rileys from Meath. Those are the Irish 8 for my research.
But don't get me started on my husband. He's a mutt.
