ailbhe: (passport)

Well, I found today that there's a book out there called SnakeCharm with a main character called Ailbhe. It was published in September 2004.

Which is also the month that the game using my passport photo without permission was published, I think.

Anyway, I just wondered if anyone here had read it. I already know I can't, because I've gogoled and found not just an extract (where someone says "gender" instead of "sex") but some slashfic. Nope, I'm not reading it.

The author has been publishing since she was 14 - she was 20 when this one came out. So that's nice.

I think you have a beautiful name!! Though, I don't quite know how to pronounce it. I'm from the states and have never run across it before. I did read your replies on august_2006, so I know it's ancient celtic.

Did you say somewhere on your website that you're originally from Ireland? I know this is rather insignificant, but I'm Irish as well. My g.great grandparents immigrated to the states (both sides). I've never been there, but I imagine it's gorgeous.

Wow, great greats? Cool. My maternal side is all from Lithuania. They may have moved around a little in the area, so maybe one great-great might officially have been Polish and another might officially have been russian, but that's just as much about the actual borders moving as the ancestors.

All the great-greats on my Dad's side were here in America, but some of them actually came over on the boats. We're able to trace them to probable counties based on what *they* told people, but not necessarily finding corroborating church records or valuation records to nail them down over *there.* I guess my third cousin and I are going to use various kid and marriage registries to see what we can find. So far i'm pretty sure about
Boyds from Down, Flynns from Meath, Bruders from Tipperary, and Rileys from Meath. Those are the Irish 8 for my research.

But don't get me started on my husband. He's a mutt.

I just googled (can you tell I'm bored today?), and started reading the first chapter, and I am astonished that anything so appallingly written got published. I couldn't make it through to the end.
