We got up slowly, ate, dressed, pootled around. About half past ten I wet to go to the loo and discovered Emer naked at the bathroom sink, plugging it with playdough. So I cleaned that up and the doorbell rang; the guy was here to deliver our Green Cone. And our morning visitors had arrived. I took the cone in and the guests squeezed past and after milling around a bit we all got sorted out and the children played and I caught up slightly with the adults and R reminded me to go to the loo so I even got to do that, too.
Linnea was doing dot-to-dots on her computer, and Emer played beautifully with bayb M - just like Linnea used to, she remarked that he was scratching her face but didn't resist it in any way, and tried to nicely give him toys. There was a slight issue when he was putting toys in his mouth - she worried about it - so I found him a bigger one which didn't all fit in.
I hadn't really seen the children in a while and was astonished by how much they had grown - in size, in the baby's case, and in doing-stuff-ness-and-confidence in the toddler's case.
After they left we had lumch and got ready to go out, at which point the rain went frmo "constant" to "pelting up on the windowsill to hit halfway up the panes" so we paused a bit. An hour later we were all ready again and Emer needed the loo. But then we were all ready and we actualyl left the house, before the charity shops closed.
I got Linnea two pairs of trousers for autumn and a red hooded fleece. The charity shops and Tesco alike failed to provide a raincoat for Linnea, but I will find one somewhere. There's always a navy blue back-to-school kagoul, but I'd prefer something which doesn't go over her head and she'd prefer something red. Actually, going by today, she'd prefer to be wet, but I don't think her coat is going to be dry in the morning.
Emer slept in the buggy - her coat is largely waterproof, and the fleece cosytoes helped, too.
We finished with a trip to Lidl for food, and met Rob on the way home. Linnea helped him cook dinner; she peeled and fine-chopped the garlic. I made a lovely non-dairy rice pudding with frozen berry fruits. We are all enormously full now.
I'm planning tomorrow's packed lunch. The flask for meals can be forced to hold enough hot food for four people if we also have bread and drinks separately. Beans, eggs, maybe rice pudding or hot fruit, bread, bara brith, bananas, apple juice, and hot water for ginger cordial and coffee - how does that sound?
