I have just arrived back in LHR. We left our passports on the plane, and when we went to fetch tem, Rob was met by a man bearing the red wallet we store them in for travel. Rob said "Oh, thanks!" and the man said "Not until you give me back the seatbelt."
We said what seatbelt? and Huh? until he said "Give me back the seatbelt or I call the police. Or you come back to the plane."
I was tempted to tell him to call the police but my natural guilt kicked in, so we went back to the plane. It turned out that they were accusing us of having stolen the infant seatbelt we used to hold Linnea on my lap. It was, however, sitting in the middle of the seat I had so recently vacated.
We received an apology consisting of the words "I do apologise," followed by a justification of why it was perfectly reasonable to treat us that way and a resentful tirade for notaccepting the apology.
So we went to the Air Malta desk in Departures, whcih was staffed by KLM. More later.
