This evening:
A: Are you drowning my baby?
R: No, she's doing it quite effectively by herself.

Overheard in a queue for ferry check-in on Saturday morning:
Are there any fucken muslims here?
I was deligh'e' when they shot that fella yesterday.
They should bomb the fucken mosque, that's be a pleasant change.

Seen, not overheard, on the ferry on Saturday: A woman pouring Coke (Coca-Cola) from a labelled bottle into a toddler's bottle, the kind with a teat, like for drinking formula or milk.

The same woman must have been in town this afty. I was horrified to see her buy a bottle of diet coke in Woolies, take a few sips & then pour the remainder into an avent bottle & give it to a baby about Holly's size & age (ie 7 months!!!!!!)

God, I'm such a "good" parent as Holly has only had breastmilk, formula milk & cooled boiled tap water. In an ideal world, she wouldn't have had formula milk either, but diet coke is unbelievable.

Now that, in my world, is child abuse. Getting a baby/child into the habit of soft drinks or sweet stuff is just so far beyond wrong. I often tell people about K and the Cadbury Creme Egg when she was 3 months old. It's amusing now, but I was horrified at the time that my mother would even think that it was an acceptable thing to do (Mum had her while I had to follow the ambulance with her father in to hospital for emergency appendectomy, I got back to mum's to find K contentedly suckling on a CCE... "It was the only way I could keep her quiet." FFS! I'd left a couple of bottles of breast milk She was only 3 months old!).
