Today Linnea got out of the Biscuit Tin Cafe and as far as the kerb before I caught her. I had turned my head to fix up the buggy so she could get into it and we could leave, and I heard someone yell - and I ran.

I got her, and sat down with her on my lap, and didn't cry, and a bunch of little old ladies came over and offered to buy me a drink and patted my knee.

One of the automatic doors was open, so she only needed to trigger one door to get out. We usually catch her in the lobby, for that very reason. But I'll never, ever rely on that again. She never gets out of my sight there again. The automatic doors are too dangerous.

Rob has bought her a swimming sun-hat - with a flap at the back like a dustman's 'at. SPF40. We like clothing with SPF40.

Yikes! Just be thankful nothing happened. It could have been far worse.

Ali has a baseball cap with a flap over the ears and neck - also SPF40! He hates it! Muahahahaaaaa... Well actually once it is tied on he forgets about it, but it restricts his vision and he doesn't like that..

Oh, how scary!

I'm glad the little old lady brigade was there to reassure you that stuff like this happens, and pat your knee.

I'm glad she's OK. And that you're OK. *hugs you both*

And maybe looking into one of those leash-things might not be a bad idea. She sounds like she's fast!

You'd think they have baby olympics or something for kids like this, eh?

Glad to hear all ended safe.

Now, where's my duct tape?

And did the little old ladies all tell you that their kids always did similar things when said kids were of a similar age, and mostly grew up with at least 75% of their limbs and a majority of their fingers?

I'm glad someone shouted, and I'm glad you got her, and I'm very glad the LOLs patted your knee.

At a church do a couple of weeks ago I turned my back on Jack for one moment to thank someone for herding him out of the kitchen and another LOL shouted and started to dash for him as he headed through the (stone) porch and towards the (steep, stone) steps.

LOL and I were both shaking when I retrieved him...

When did they learn to sprint?

*ping*

I'm going to reveal my complete ignorance and say that I have no idea how far Reading is from London or if you ever go there, but I'm pinging my UK friends to make sure that they're still okay. If you could drop a comment to this, I'd really appreciate it.

That's good to know. :) She'd talked to me about the vacation, but I couldn't remember the dates, so I wasn't sure. :) Thank you!
