I stayed at home with my baby today! Since I almost never get to do this unless I'm ill, it was a great treat. I had no errands that couldn't wait, no groups or clubs or lessons or appointments, nothing except Linnea.

We had a pleasant breakfast; she doesn't like strawberries. We played I-forget-what but it probably involved hide and seek, peekaboo, chasing (tag), climbing, taking everything off the flat surface or out of the container or both, crawling around, growling, and making up rhymes (hers rhyme better, since they are all dadadaba baddadada dede bababaaba, but mine are more amusing, unless you ask her), singing as loud as we could (very loud), rolling over and over with extra kisses, and raspberries.

We had a morning snack and more games, and she had a 30 minute nap and some lunch, and we hung laundry and played on the swing, and there was a thunderstorm that started during her afternoon snack so I took the laundry in but it was nearly dry so that was ok, and after the thunderstorm we played on the swing and kicked a ball and met some friendly mud and crawled and climbed and rolled. Then I more or less went to sleep for an hour, lying on the floor while she crawled over me and pulled my hair and ate bits of my face and snuggled into my blanket and hid behind me and leapt out at me giggling and... but it was very restful, compared to the rest of the day.

I also called my mother and made dinner and did three loads of laundry did I already mention the laundry? and sundry housework things.

It was great. She's the best company I've had in ages. All she needs is an off switch.

[Just don't ask Rob about babies who get sick after glutting themselves on water and breastmilk at 3 am and then want to play for an hour.]

Grace hasn't hit that one (yet). There are specific places she does not like -- bed being the most dreadful of them, with on the lap for dressing a close second. But those are because she knows that these are places she's going to have to remain for long enough to get bored. If we put her on a lap while the other parent amuses her, she doesn't mind being there.

I am trying a completely snack-free afternoon today, to see if that will get her hungry enough for dinner tonight. If it doesn't, it doesn't; she slept through last night quite comfortably despite not eating much at dinner, and did not act starving in the morning, so I'm not prepared to force the issue, or the spoon.
