Optimistic
Oct. 14th, 2004 09:30 pmThings are looking up. My Health Visitor is visiting regularly, which helps keep me sane and gives me someone to moan in graphic biological detail to. She also got me another appointment with my favourite GP, who is rare and scarce and lovely. And my painkillers really do work and I seem to be managing on 30-60mg codeine a day, which is excellent going.
We had a dinner guest last night, and as a direct result I discovered that our tomato sauce contains no added sugar at all - this is tomato sauce for bolognese etc as distinct from ketchup, mind you; I don't think we have any ketchup. This guest also brought some flowers - yellow and pink daisylikes, pink carnations, and a single pink rosebud, now in solitary state in the library, where it looked so good Rob went "Oooooh!" when he came home. Hurrah for people who tolerate babies at the dinner table.
It's really nice to be able to have people around occasionally without too much effort; I have a great deal for which to thank FLYlady, pink and twee and American and hyperChristian though she is. Her system, when you unearth it from the detritus, works. (Damn her). I'm still emotionally fragile enough that I can only have very, very low-stress people over, which is probably why I haven't invited you (You're so vain, I bet you think this song is about you...) but soon I expect to have the oomph to go out and visit people again. First on that list is the people who, in summer, shelter and give succour to great big bloodthirsy Ailbhetarian citronellaproof insects, but that won't be an issue in winter *grin*.
As we're away for the weekend, happy birthday to Janice and we hope to see you soon. If the Canadian post ever gets going, you should receive evidence of my incredible degree of organisation, but don't hold your breath!
