I saw the consultant today. I may be partially fixed in 4-6 months. Some things may be unfixable; I need to see another consultant to see what is and isn't possible.

The good news is that I may not need a general if I'm willing to consent to a spinal, which I think I am. I managed an epidural for the birth, after all.

If I wasn't breastfeeding, I might be able to have the first op earlier, but no guarantees; as I am, I need to artificially adjust my oestregen levels to improve my chances of healing after the op.

I'm pretty devastated by this. I know worse things are happening to other people elsewhere, but what's happening to me is not very nice, on a personal level, and I'm not happy about it at all.

Please, universe, can it all stop now?

Much sympathy.

I'm impressed you got to see a consultant this soon, frankly, although you're almost certainly in a different Health Authority from me (I'm not sure whether there's a boundary between Oxford and Reading for HA purposes, but our local OB/GYN provision is crap beyond belief if you're not actually pregnant or dangerously ill). 13 months on I'm seeing some results from pushing hard to see someone and am now getting things dealt with, but it's galling to hear 'if you'd come to see us a year ago...' Fingers crossed that it's all (relatively) easily fixable for you.

Well, yes. But was rather hoping that wasn't the case. Think positive, and all that.

(I know, it's bloody hard to. I'm trying to research the effects of the problems I've been left with and am reaching the conclusion that another pregnancy is never going to be possible. But no one seems to have quite enough information to confirm it, and "just trying it to see" isn't feasible in any universe, although that's my OB's stated opinion. Easy for him, he doesn't have to go through any of it.)
