Done:

  1. Got up, made bed
  2. Washed, dressed, did hair (managing all three with a young baby is harder than it sounds. Trust Me On This).
  3. Assembled a load of 60 degree laundry (stuff with poo goes at 60 degrees. Stuff without poo goes at 40 degrees. She' snot on solids yet).
  4. Sterilised the soothers / pacifiers / dummies - plugs, basically, to stop her screaming herself hoarse while I fix the problem. I'm already well enough that I can pick her up when the problem is Insufficient Cuddling, most of the time.
  5. Cleared up in the kitchen - we have one counter now.
  6. Caught up on email, news, and web stuff, including checking my new, draconian spam-filter (I'm seriously considering filtering all mail from non-whitelisted addresses. I no longer have time to manually sort through spam. We'll see how many false positives I get this month).

To Do:

  1. Hang laundry to dry
  2. Wash dishes
  3. Clear second kitchen counter
  4. Iron various baby things
  5. Wash kitchen floor
  6. Sterilise and assemble breast pump
  7. Apply for two more baby freebies (Free Babies! Wahey!)
  8. Wrap and post a parecel. It's assembled, it just needs brown paper and stamps.
  9. Call my mother and at least one sister.

Of course, none of that includes feeding Linnea, burping Linnea, changing Linnea, playing with Linnea, and sitting around holding her, bouncing her, singing to her, and wondering desperately how to accelerate her digestive processes so that they at least don't hurt for quite as long, even if they still hurt. It's hard work, being almost 5 weeks old. (Five weeks tomorrow! She's growing up! I feel like it's rushing past far too fast; perhaps I should take more photos).

I'm doing a similar thing. I've given a unique address to anyone I thought of at the time (not everyone, I've thought of some since). This includes companies (in an effort to determine which of the buggers sells their lists)

I have a filter which says

a) If you are sending to a known address... come on in!
b) If you are FROM a known address, flag, but come on in! (This person needs to update their address book, OR, it's someone forging from lines)
c) If you're using my temp address... come on in! (This is so the 'from' line doesn't break).
c) If I've never heard of you... Go into Quarantine! If you've sent an attachment, it gets removed.

So far I've had a few legitimates go into quarantine, this was simply as I hadn't put them in my address book... usually these are companies (e.g. I forgot to change let play.com stuff through.

I then scan down quarantine (much easier as it is mostly junk... not a mixture), select all and delete.

The future plan is to have a small in-house usenet/mail server going (so that I can change working machines with impunity without having to worry about email loss - to date, each machine I've used has been different enough that i've effectively put a line in the sand and started from scratch - it hasn't been worth it). This machine will run spamassassin and all that gumph - any other machines will see it via imap (I think).
