Jun. 23rd, 2003 06:05 pmIt takes me over two hours, and about a pint of water from the plant spray, to iron a pair of lined cotton curtains. Damn, they were heavy. And they're still not really ironed as well as I'd like them to be. However, no-one will notice once they're hung, and at least they're clean. The other pair are in the washing machine now. Two curtains at a time is a full load.
In other news, I had a nap and started reading a Georgette Heyer. I've reached the point where I don't know who I loaned A Civil Contract to, which is a shame because I've reread A Convenient Marriage too often lately.
We had a lovely salad for lunch and can have the same again for dinner. And I placed our grocery order, which will be delivered on Friday. And tonight I have a ceramics class and Rob is doing the final cupboard door, which will be almost the finishing touch for the dining room - I just need to decide on whether or not I want to curtain off that glorious view </Peg Bracken>. If I do, it will have to be a roller blind, I think, in some vibrant colour. I wonder if I could dye my own? A batik design of some sort? Hmm.
The pine-clad wall looks great. Even the fact that the other walls are painted over woodchip doesn't look so bad; it's vaguely reminiscent of the rough plastering in old houses anyway, since it's just plain white. I am afraid I will have to get some mirrors in this room if it's ever going to be remotely well-lit; it has one shaded north window. Still, at least it's not constantly dim any more.
I wonder where all the stuff that has nowhere to live can live? It has to live somewhere before my family starts to arrive.
two small thoughts -
Date: 2003-06-23 10:55 am (UTC)and I understand the frustration with the cotton curtains - have you tried either hanging them up damp to dry at the window, or ironing them from the damp stage rather than letting them dry?
