I walked upstairs to bed and saw my watch winking shinily at me from a pile of junk in Rob's office. It was invisible from the step below and the step above, but it caught the light just right and I found it. Yes, we had already looked there.

So I have my ring, because I found it, and Rob has his ring, because I collected it from the jewellers where he took it to be mended.

I love, by the way, my caterers.

What is so good about the caterers? Inquiring minds really do Want to Know. Well, this one does. I am gathering a collection of things to look out for.

The caterers are professionals. They have organised far more weddings than I have. They are attached to the venue - they run the restaurant in the basement and do all the functions in the function rooms. They return calls promptly and are patient when I panic and say "Oh, no, I've forgotten what I called about - I think it was - er, can you think of something I've forgotten?". They are willing to meet me as often as I like to rehash arrangements. They are happy to meet the mothers and the best man before the event so that everyone knows what's going on and so that they know who the best man is to take instructions from and call about last-minute things on the day. They let me go and look at the venue as often as I like, unless it's actually being used for another function at the time. They are able to provide a wide variety of vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, gluten-free, etc etc. They are flexible about everything.

I think that's it. Oh, and they're friendly and charming and not horrendously expensive really.
