A birthday and an interview
Nov. 25th, 2002 10:34 pmI armed myself with a new skirt. I shouldn't have, but the weekend included a trip to Laura Ashley, wher eI found a skirt that's 80% wool and almost the same shape as my linen one. They are beautifully cut. The fit my waist and my hips at the same time. And I love this new one. I must get a photo of me looking stunning in it to post somewhere.
08:20 - arrive at work, start running the report I didn't have time for the night before.
08:25, give Ellie's gift and card to Judy for her to arrange that everyone sign it and hand it over.
08:30, go to meeting room for interview for Team Leader position.
11:40, leave interview, having been more sarcastic than I should have been and spent a deal of time looking disbelivingly over the tops of my glasses at the male interviewer.
14:30 - Almost recovered from the ordeal of talking about self for three hours, and the next interviewee is due out soon, assuming 3 hours for his interview too.
Ellie liked her gifts - Winnie the Pooh socks and keyring, using Disney's Pooh, and a 2003 diary using Ernest Shepherd's Pooh, who is far superior.
After work - we all left promptly at 17:30 - we went en masse to Sweeney's for pie, which is a marvellous Reading institution. Dave almost had convulsions of sheer delight while ordering, and the noises of rapture he made while eating weren't fit for the ears of children. Nor was the conversation; it got - ah - ribald.
I don't even need to try to get ribald. Sometimes, almost anything can sound like innuendo - all you need to do is raise your eyebrows slightly, smirk, and say "really?" and people think the most dreadful things. Ha.
We have been told that we will know which of us got the job by the end of the week - or rather, whether or not each individual has got the Team Leader job, as I suppose that we must assume we are not the only applicants, though I think we might be.
