It's hard to remember which day is which. Yesterday was Wednesday and we were very busy - we let the bathroom man in and packed a picnic and went to the community gardens to meet friends. After a play there, including smashing a gazebo frame and winding a ball of yarn around EVERYTHING, we came back home and I saw a yooooge cardboard box in the kitchen. I asked Mr TipTopTap what his plans were - cardboard recycling - and then decided to turn it into a castle.

First we had another friend come and visit, and we talked and had a snack (ham sandwiches and flapjacks and tea and things) and then Emer took our friend upstairs to show her the bedroom (impassable) and Linnea and I made a rudimentary castle framework, with shuttered window above a drawbridge, and battlements. It was a bit cobbled together but great fun, and Rob came home and we all ate dinner and the children went to bed and my friend and I made the castle much sturdier so that it no longer needed to be suspended from a string across a doorway.

We got to bed kind of late but it was worth it.

This morning was Thursday and the only bad dream I had was about headlice, which is quite bearable in the grand scheme of things, and the children and I wrapped birthday gifts and wrote cards and packaged up Moo postcards for return, and then we went to the post office, and then to the community garden with gaffer tape, and I taped up the broken gazebo part and Linnea helped me to assemble it (holding legs up high while I stuck their lower halves on, that sort of thing), and then we went to Moondogs to sort out the phone number for the arty book festival lady, and then we came home and had lunch, and then Mary came, and then Becky came, and then Rob came and cooked dinner and Becky went away, and then the girls went to bed, and then I printed off my submission letter for the publisher.

Tomorrow I hope to post it, and meet a friend to hand over a SIM card, and buy an anniversary present for people whose party we're going to on Sunday, and start the cake-baking process for the toddler whose parent has swine flu and pleurisy so she can't have her scheduled birthday party. Luckily she's young enough that the lack of hugeness of the party won't be a problem for her.

I have handed out one invitation for Emer's birthday party and arranged transportation to and from my wisdom tooth surgery two weeks from today.

And discovered that Emer and Linnea are both frightened by the opening theme to 2001AD.

The showing of the bedroom was supposed to involve changing out of the dress, but actually involved reading about four stories, BOUNcing UP and DOWN a LOT, pulling each other back and forth, flopping into the mattress and screaming with laughter, and generally being energetic and happy. And doing things 'one last time' about six times each. I might need to learn to be convincing with that sort of thing. :)

I applied for a job this evening, it's very exciting as I'd actually enjoy doing it *and* think it is a Good Thing (it's an NHS thing), but I'm very tired now. Would you text me when you're in town, just in case I'm not yet? If I do miss you I could pop round to yours briefly when it's convenient as I will have a bus ticket anyway. I'm off to Tadley in the evening again.
