We are living in Snot City, in the Dire Rear council housing estate where the council never takes the bins away, and the background noise is the plaintive croaking of throat-frogs.

So I am making housework lists. I do think this stuff would be easier without a helpful and involved one-year-old but it might be less fun.

I finished building Ludvig and tidied my bedroom.
I got dressed and brushed my teeth.
Astrid and I shared an avocado, so I ate something.
I hung a line-ful of laundry outdoors and put a load on to wash for a colour-run-remover wash.
I cleared the draining board, emptied and refilled the dishwasher, and set it going.
I changed a million revolting nappies and wiped sixteen billion noses, many of which are bleeding slightly from harsh tissue overuse.
I stripped my bed to the sheet and hung the duvet to air.

Need to: Make and drink tea, finish clearing kitchen (one counter at a time), eat something - bagels might be easiest.

4pm Made tea, am drinking now
Cleared one kitchen counter
Assembled Rationell shelf for that counter
Washed more dirty things
Watered plant; it's recovering shockingly from being neglected for two weeks, we forgot to tell the cat-feeding people that it was there or might need watering, though it looks like they did the hanging basket!
Adjusted the doors on the Ludvig to hang better.
Cleared kitchen floor and spot-wiped it
Washed all the wooden things in the sink

7:40 pm Tidied half the children's room
Cleared more kitchen
Sat and stared
Despaired
Did online banking
Checked groceries and emailed True Food with queries about Christmas
Subscribed to Amazon's delivery service for disposable night nappies, which is a triumph and an admission of defeat in one
Installed ALL the software updates except iTunes on my laptop, in the hope that it would improve performance. Cautious thumbs-up so far.

Yeah; I used to be highly sceptical mutter mutter MARKETING NONSENSE, and then I actually tried them & discovered that they make a massive difference.

(These days I mostly use hankies for myself, which are nicer on the nose too, but I don't have quite enough for the required intensity of use during colds.)
