Housework and despair

I'm listing what I do to remind myself that I am a useful person.

Hung two loads of laundry
Filled & ran dishwasher
Showered with Astrid
Cooked breakfast
Re-rinsed nappies washed overnight
Cleaned bath
Descaled bathroom taps, both sets
Cleaned toilet brush
Cleaned up biological mess in hallway
Scrubbed handbasin
Washed bathroom mirror
Cleaned toilet and bin
Washed bathroom floor
Descaled kitchen draining board
Emptied, refilled and ran dishwasher
Descaled half-sink and cleaned surrounding counter
Oiled clean counter
Descaled kettle base and outside of kettle

Also (1pm):
Sent two emails re Ebay purchasing problem
Put on another load of laundry
Hung another load of laundry; now there are five multi-peg hangers full of nappy wraps, socks, pants etc hanging out there
Oiled a patch of the worktop again - really ought to do this more often
Repaired washing line
Put on load of towels to launder
Picked up rubbish from lawn, shoved out of sight, whoops

1:35pm
Cleared, scrubbed and oiled another kitchen worktop
Cooked lunch

by 7pm
Took children out to play with other children
Delivered bag of clothes to charity shop
Came home and put dinner in the oven
Cleared and scrubbed dining table and highchair ready for dinner
Brought in a load of laundry and hung one out
Dried and put away everything left on the draining board from earlier dishwasherloads
Sorted clean laundry into piles according to its final destination

Look, I know we've never met and I've only bought a painting off you and we have a couple of mutual acquaintances BUT I really do have a moment every day when I think "I hope Ailbhe has managed to actually drink something by now".

I had my morning coffee in bed! I went back to bed specially. And I had another coffee about 3pm. And I had an orange juice before I woke up, even, because Rob left it for me. And I had water with my pills. And I had water with my dinner. And when Rob came home he made me a chamomile tea. And I'll have something else soon too.

It's sweet that you think of it. And a bit worrying.

I don't find comparing myself to other people helps, for some reason. If they do less than I do that seems perfectly reasonable and if they do more it's because I am A Useless Failure (tm). Having other people *say* I'm doing ok helps though.

You have done lots and lots and are a Very Useful Person. You are definitely useful to me. Even when I don't see you I know that you care about me and that we will help each other if we need it, and that helps me feel happy and positive and good about things.

Whenever there is a bit of time I would like to do some thinky talking with you! If possible. I need to work out what to do with my life.
