Clothes

I had a handmedown cardi which I gave to the charity shop after wearing it to the library today; it itched. I also have a couple of brown tops which don't work with my new improved bust or the trend for low-waisted trousers, so I must remember to charity shop those too.

Clothes are a constant trial. I don't like shopping for them, especially trying them on, and I seem to have trouble working with my current shape so I can't tell which of my existing clothes will fit properly. Laundry works so that my clothes are the lowest priority and autumn means neither my summer nor winter sets work properly for me.

I have tons of clothes but nothing to wear. I guess that's about par for the course. Yay.

it's like you're in my head.. or my clothes pile anyways.. i do own far too many clothes, and so few fit. I need to be virtuous like you and give them away.

The T&S approach only works for people who want to comply with normative standards of effectiveness: they tell you nothing e.g. about *where* to find button down shirts that will button over a 32-DD chest, or trousers that are wide enough for a mature woman's hips but don't gape at the waist, or dresses that are a size 10 above and a size 14 below (or vice versa).

And once trends change, I find them useless - it's all very well to say "small prints are flattering", but this year it's all block colour unless you're willing to go either the designer route or to Littlewoods. Their standard silhouettes for each shape are all out of style too.

The offer to go shopping together is open as always. I'm good at it, I enjoy it, and I promise you we will find things that you will like. If it worked for my mother-in-law it is going to work for you! Ask for testimonials if you don't believe me. :)

Whoopsie, wrong icon! Didn't mean to imply anyone's an epic fail here. =)

I will. talk to me when I'm back from holiday. Decluttering is an excellent place to start.

I have no idea what my shape is now, especially with my post-BF super-duper bust. I can manage tops and dresses but trousers? The pain.

Urgh, yes, trouser-buying==hellish. For this winter, I have three of the same pair of trousers in different colours BECAUSE THEY FIT.

I may have to buy two more pairs of one style of M&S jeans for exactly this reason. The same style in trousers rather than jeans? Don't fit.

I actually need to have a clear out, I think I may have some stuff from when I was very, very much smaller that I think would fit you now. I do mean I was a LOT smaller :) Would you like it? Not sure how much will be cotton though, which may be an issue.

Also - Deborah finally asked to see a friend again on Sunday, and it was Emer! She's having an awesome run at the minute, can we pop over when she's hopefully still having it?

Glad your holiday was THE BEST! Looking forward to new writings. I'm so into music at the minute, it's nothing short of magical how these things transform us.
