Got up, dressed, tidied girls' room including bookshelves and toyboxes, tidied upstairs landing, changed and dressed Astrid, helped Linnea clean up and get dressed, did that again, tidied bathroom and kitchen, cleared dining room and front room floors ready for hoovering, cleared stairs, went through HUGE piles from all those places which I stacked in the front hall - found a small quantity of stuff to put away and a lot of rubbish.

Made lunch. Bathed Astrid.

Cleaned and dressed Emer, and Linnea again. Checked Linnea's rash with a glass. She has huge red welts everywhere, and occasional bruising, but no itchiness or pain, and the rash vanishes when pressed on. She's acting perfectly well and healthy, even helpful and cheerful.

Settled the big girls in front of the CATS DVD with subtitles on so they can follow the words, and fed Astrid down to sleep.

While she was asleep, washed dishes by hand, because she HATES me doing that and it's really difficult with her swinging out of my trousers. Then had tea and peanut butter and choc chip oatmeal cookies while watching the end of CATS with Emer (Linnea left because Macavity is scary).

And that's now.

Best/worst

Best bit of today: I'll have to give that some thought.

Worst bit of today: Either cleaning the toilet brush and its holder (seriously, I think someone used it to unblock a tissue-stuffed toilet bowl, it was horrific) or one of the half-dozen dire rear cleanups I had to do or possibly the bit before all those things where I thought I was going to be very sick and used force of will to avoid it, which also works for seasickness up to a point.

The best bit was probably something to do with the children. Perhaps it was Astrid climbing up on the step and finding a plastic cup and holding it under the kitchen tap? I gave her a clean cup and turned the tap on, and she was happy for ages, and so was I, watching her with my friend. Or perhaps it was Emer asking for snuggles and coming into my bed and grinning millimetres away from my face with her arms wrapped around me? Or then again it might have been Linnea casually wrapping her arms around my waist in passing, pressing her face into my tummy, and then going on about her business. She's not usually physically affectionate, but today was a bit different.

Oh - maybe the best bit was getting into bed all on my own after dinner, while Rob had all three children for a while. Though I had a nightmare, so perhaps not.

Maybe the best bit was when Rob got home.

Who knows?
