We're back. We're rehydrating, the children got washed, we all ate some REAL FOOD OMG, and now we're recovering. Astrid and I have Con Sinus, and her chest is a bit wheezy - it was INCREDIBLY arid in the hotel and although Rob held her in a steamed-up bathroom a few times a day and walked her around the swimming pool area too, she'll take a while to recover I think. But she got very spotty while there and that's easing off already, so perhaps...

I'm really hoping that my spots and stomach discomfort will go away now too, now that I'm back with real food and fresh air and that sort of thing. I expect that tomorrow we'll be pretty quiet; Linnea and Emer were overwhelmed by the whole thing (Linnea actually spent some time alone in the hotel room, at her own request; it was a bit unsettling for me but she seemed to need it desperately).

Next time, Rob plans to read the con programme before he goes, because it all seems like too much effort once he gets there, but if he worked up some enthusiasm ahead of time he might actually get up and GO to an event or two. He might enjoy them. He got Opening Ceremony priority this time but came out when the girls got bored and couldn't be bothered going back in. I went to the Closing Ceremony and one other event, but I did have a breastfeeding newborn, so.

I kind of want to tot up the Pratchett Progeny again. I'm sure the original file is on my laptop. But now that I no longer have hordes of babyholding volunteers (many of whom practically tore her from my arms, in the politest possible way) it may be trickier.

Rob is back at work tomorrow. It'll be a shock to Emer; she really loved having him available for all of five days. She followed him almost everywhere.

He gets tired about 10pm, even at conventions. So who stays up until 1:30, 2:30, 3:00? the one breastfeeding the newborn, that's who. I have now breastfed while ordering drinks at a bar, folks. At the actual bar, not sitting on a chair in the lounge. It did mean I couldn't stand on the footrest to get to a reasonable height, which I would usually do since the bar comes up to my collarbone, but...

He is infinitely patient with miserable babies. I didn't need that skill this weekend (Thursday-Tuesday is a weekend, right?) but it's fab nonetheless.

The children adore him. And he them.

My only complaint (!!!) is that he spent the weekend prioritising my enjoyment so I suspect he claimed not to want to do stuff when he actually did, but we had a mini-argument about that shortly before the end so we might have fixed it, I'm not sure. I was really, really tired by then.
