Better?

We're running late again but I think we'll get there. I've assembled the overdue library books and the children are almost ready. Beds made, laundry on, dishwasher on, etc.

17:45

We got the library books returned and when I came back I made bread and I did another load of laundry and hung them both out in the garden. The third one is out now. Some neighbours came over, too, and at lunchtime Rob popped home from work because yet another neighbour had offered the use of their car to collect plasterboard from the builders' merchants. So now the hallway is full of the stuff, and we have a ton of attic insulation too, and the weekend's work is fairly set to go.

I'm kind of hoping we get a LOT done on Saturday in the attic, and then spend Sunday and Monday using the space it creates to tidy up the spare room and master bedroom. You never know.

Perhaps this evening we'll do a bit of atticking and a bit of menu-planning, so that the evenings are less chaotic. I'd love a well-stocked freezer of home-made ready-meals.

Speaking of which, the non-stick is coming off our huge pan, so I need to source another one without a non-stick coating. Rob and non-stick do. Not. Mix, and since he does almost all the cooking, that matters. Mm, tasty teflon.

Finally, finally, FINALLY, after years of waiting and wondering why I hadn't inherited my mother's genes in this regard, I HAVE A WHITE HAIR.

OK, it's only one, in my eyebrow. But it's a start!

Pillar-box red hair with blue eyebrows, you are in my future. I can SEE YOU.

Other symptoms include really, really enjoying playing word games after the children are asleep, thinking the Reading Festival kids are incredibly cute as they rock up in their mothers' cars and their mothers help them carry the tents, sleeping bags, beer and novelty hats down the street, and clucking in irritation at postal delivery operatives who leave little red rubber bands lying around everywhere.

I'm so happy. If I work hard and age well, maybe I can be a bit like [livejournal.com profile] kightp later. I can learn how to do awesome, right?
