O self-loathing how we love thee
Mar. 31st, 2008 11:47 amSo far today I have been very poorly and treated with being tucked up in bed (ow) sat on (ow) force-fed imaginary rice-milk custard (er) and chips with brown sauce (thank gods they were imaginary), and then done two loads in the dishwasher, washed and dressed self and two children, done a load of laundry, and tidied three rooms.
Then I sat down and started to feel like a useless lazy shmuck.
And I still have Creeping Crud.
I think we're going to the greasy spoon caf for lunch today. I can't cope. Waah!

So what should I do
Mar. 31st, 2008 03:59 pmwith rump steak?
The orrible greasy caf provided chips for Linnea to eat with her ketchup, and even did me a nice non-greasy poached egg, which was lovely. Emer and Linnea also had beans. Memo to self: bring own napkins in future as the caf's supply appear to be actually waterproof.
Linnea is in nursery, and we all popped in to the Workhouse Coffee Shop for non-caffeine drinks and -
That noise from the kitchen was Emer playing the hanging cups like a xylophone using one of our lifetime guarantee sharp kitchen knives with almost unbluntable edges as a drumstick. I think I'm going to be sick. I obviously left it out for her.
Ugh.

"In winter, I get up at night
And dress by yellow candlelight.
In summer, quite the other way:
I have to go to bed by day."
Linnea is NOT HAPPY with waking up in the morning and going to bed in the morning. I wasn't there for the argument but I heard the ensuing wildness through the ceiling. Rob left the room and turned the light out an hour ago; she's still intermittently making thumping noises.
I shall have to explain that sometimes the moon comes out in the daytime and sometimes the sun is still out at night. And try to find a decent book with pictures of why.
We're going to get her a globe for her birthday, anyway - one with blue sea, because she doesn't like our tiny one with white sea. I'm not sure what else to look for in a globe for a small child.
