We're home, as of late last night. Some swift observations:

The bus trip from Mum's house to the airport was a bit of a pain due to crowded buses with no leg room at all - they were long-distance coaches, not commuter buses, so the seats were too high for us, too. Ugh. Luckily Linnea fell asleep rather than getting sick.

Cork airport is lovely; quiet, airy, easily navigable, plenty of space for getting a luggage trolley around, but no highchairs in the restaurant. Decent babychange facilities though.

Heathrow airport allows smoking. But big pink bags are easy to find on the carousel.

The new buggy (Mothercare Duolite) is grand. It fits in our doorway and hall, just about. There's almost 5mm to spare in the doorway, in fact.

The Heathrow Connect train is not more convenient than the bus except that it doesn't make Linnea queasy.

Last night I slept in my bed for the first time in two months. It felt good. This morning Rob took the girls out shopping for a birthday present and I had a bath, cut my fingernails, brushed my teeth, etc. Then they came home and I got dressed and we ate lunch and went to the birthday party. It was a 3rd birthday, and we attended the house part, from 15:15 to 17:15, but we didn't attend the swimming part, later. Too late for us; Linnea needs to be winding down for bed, especially now when we're all four of us convalescent and exhausted.

Rob has cooked several dinners for use this week; tomorrow it's bean casserole with couscous.

I am going to eat some more and then sleep.

I ordered some mother stuff a while ago and was delighted to find it awaiting me when I got home last night. I now have two more Glamourmom tank tops, both in designs unlike things I am wont to wear, and a Peanut Shell sling.

The sling is lovely. It's an extra-small, brown on one side and spotty on the other, with a padded leg rail and a pocket to keep things in and a hook to hang things from. It's comfy and fun and fits beautifully and I love it. I've put away my huge stripy knitted jacket and brought out my neater brown winter coat, and Emer can sit in the sling outside my coat, now that it's spring and she prefers to be on my hip rather than my front. It's small enough that it will fit nicely over just a tank top too, so I can use it in the summer.

I need a babywearing icon.
