It's odd how my confinement has isolated me. Normally, there are local friends in about as much as I go out, but the past three weeks - it's been three weeks since I got ill - Linnea has gone out, mainly. Three families have visited once each. Of course, I am too tired to enjoy visits anyway - it was lovely having a houseful of life yesterday, but I slept through some of it! - but since coming here from Spain leaving my five aunties and six mothers I have found friends and made a point of seeing most of them fairly regularly; their children are Linnea's friends; we've got used to it. There were times when we wished it was just the three or four of us again, but they were rare.

When I get back, we have almost a week before my sister comes to stay; after that I'd really like to have every other weekend with guests for a while. I am starving for company. The trick is to not be so ill I zone out while talking to people, get short-tempered, or fall asleep mid-conversation.

I have a feeling it's going to be a while before I get back onto my normal schedule, let alone have guests every other weekend. But there's only so much time I can spend online.

Perhaps what I need is to start writing letters on paper.
