She fell asleep in H&M at 14:15, and it's now 15:20. I can't believe it! I was so excited I accidentally bought her some yellow terry shorts and me a pair of stripy knickers. I had gone in originally in my search for (1) a bikini for myself, but that's a no-go because I won't try one on without someone to look after the monster for me while I do, and (2) large vests/onesies/bodysuits for her, because most places stop at the size she's currently wearing, ie 18-24 months. H&M do too. I have heard rumours that Dunnes Stores (Ireland) do larger ones but I'll need to get someone to confirm that for me.

So I'm here in Coffee Republic trying to check mail - can't, because Gmail and their browser are not good friends. I wish there was some way of viewing a stripped-to-basics version of gmail for incompatible browsers. Grump hrump.

Today's feeding is going better; she's actually eating the stuff that goes in her mouth, and most of it went in her mouth, too.

A friend has suggested that I give my list of "Places to change your baby and have a cuppa and so on in Reading" to my Health Visitor as she thinks that would be a great thing to get at postnatal classes. Is she right?

It was about 8 pm that my mother first saw Linnea, too - round about now, 355 days ago. Gosh.

It's been a good year.

No, really - it has. I mean, yes, lots of it was bloody awful, but it's been good. I'm happy. Rob's happy. Linnea's asleep, but if she was awake she'd be happy. And whiny because she'd be tired. But happy.

Today a nice man helped me get the buggy across a gutter-stream of Suspiciously Brown Water. It hadn't been raining; it was clearly something burst or overflowing or similar, and I didn't want to get the buggy quite that dirty on my way into town. A woman at the crossing also offered to help but the man leapt manfully to the rescue before she had a chance.

Tomorrow is one of Linnea's swimming lessons, followed by NCT Coffee at the Rectory. I do like the Rectory; it's where all the second-hand books for church sales go to be sorted. We have a new swimming nappy for Linnea, but we're not sure it's big enough. Find out tomorrow. If necessary, I can sacrifice a regular nappy wrap to the cause, though the chlorine ruins the waterproofing so I'd rather not. If it fits in the "will go on" sense I can always buy one that actually fits on Friday.

On the new pope - I really don't care very much. I'm a bit sad about it, but not terribly angry. I guess I still don't have enough left over to get angry about things like that. I bet my aunts are thrilled, though - at least one of them was annoyed about JPII being elected because he was too conservative for her at the time.
