She fell asleep in H&M at 14:15, and it's now 15:20. I can't believe it! I was so excited I accidentally bought her some yellow terry shorts and me a pair of stripy knickers. I had gone in originally in my search for (1) a bikini for myself, but that's a no-go because I won't try one on without someone to look after the monster for me while I do, and (2) large vests/onesies/bodysuits for her, because most places stop at the size she's currently wearing, ie 18-24 months. H&M do too. I have heard rumours that Dunnes Stores (Ireland) do larger ones but I'll need to get someone to confirm that for me.

So I'm here in Coffee Republic trying to check mail - can't, because Gmail and their browser are not good friends. I wish there was some way of viewing a stripped-to-basics version of gmail for incompatible browsers. Grump hrump.

Today's feeding is going better; she's actually eating the stuff that goes in her mouth, and most of it went in her mouth, too.

A friend has suggested that I give my list of "Places to change your baby and have a cuppa and so on in Reading" to my Health Visitor as she thinks that would be a great thing to get at postnatal classes. Is she right?

Would you like me to look for large vests over here?

Is she right?

Yes, definitely. Among the things my HV gave me were lists of coffee mornings and playgroups. The local town is small enough that 'places to change the baby' wasn't going to be a list, but for somewhere bigger getting a list like that in the early days could be a huge help.

Have you tried US for websites for longer onesies? Oh, and it strikes me that I frequently hear that the Netherlands is full of tall adults, so logically there would be longer babies so perhaps you could ask some of the afp Dutch people if there's anything there?

When my babies were small it was lists of places where it was "safe" to breast-feed your baby that were going the rounds, but yes, of course, it is always useful for mums to know which stores/cafes in their town can provide that necessary relief when it's suddently urgently needed. Vital for the toddler potty-training stage too to know where every single publically accessible loo is in your area! Not too soon to start collecting the data for that one, either!

I still haven't found a baby chnage in Pontefract town centre & we've lived here for nearly a month. I've not needed one yet, but haven't noticed one in any of the shops ...

If you can wait until Friday, I could check out the Dunnes situation for you (hooray for end of term approaching :)

I would have appreciated that list too, especially since some ostensibly-suitable places actually aren't (Mothercare in Stratford, for example, was usually considerably less hygienic than the public loos in the same shopping centre - I think they eventually "solved" the problem by closing their facilities altogether).
