I wish I believed in smacking. It would be so much more satisfying than teaching that hitting is wrong, in the short term.

Bah! I can imagine. I wonder if I'll ever feel competent enough to risk having children?

I certainly don't. (My reaction to a positive pregnancy test is, apparently, terror and panic - which seems quite rational).
