Thank goodness we have a house with double glazing.

Thank goodness we bought a house worth less than half what the lenders said we could afford.

Thank goodness we have unemployment insurance.

Thank goodness we have a reliable income from a stable employer.

Thank goodness none of us rely on disability assistance - mobility aids, carers, etc.

Somehow, I still feel pretty sick.

In a civilised, first-world society the most vulnerable members should not have to feel so frightened for the future.

Nonetheless, I am frightened for the future. There's a possibility I could be homeless by this time next year. And all because I dared to contract an as-yet incurable illness.

And I'm by far not the only one. It's - it's really frightening.

I have been reading about the cuts with growing horror. As someone who wants to get into hte academic job market, this cost cutting is hurting my chances of getting a job post PhD. Which is a bugger as the UK has better academic environment for my area of interest.

Thats ALOT of people. I think also I was thinking about funding to higher education and the repercussions that cutting funding has on research etc, while you were looking at the bigger picture. I tend to exsist in my ivory tower sometimes, and forget the bigger picture.

I like that...can I use it? And yes, the bigger picture is made of lots of smaller ones - which is what people tend to forget.
