Astrid is DESPERATELY trying to learn how to suck her thumb. She's settled for two fingers for now; she's done it a few times, and it seems to give her great relief. And make her spit up.

But then, everything does that. As far as my milk ducts are concerned, I should have had triplets.

My Astrid threw up with everything too. But I imagine dairy sensitivity isn't the case with yours.

Alyssa is trying to learn to suck her hands but can never manage it when she actually needs something to calm her (like I haven't stuck a boob in her face within five seconds of the demand!).

Aw.
I got to meet a new tiny person yesterday. She's almost two months and has got the hang of sucking her own fingers but vastly preferred sucking a bit of my shirt.

Hehehe, I remember the first time Sophie got her thumb in her mouth. Jubilation! She does it with her fingers curled up round her nose and it. is. so. cute.

It's fascinating watching small babies discover their bodies and what they like!

A was a baby like your Astrid - countless spit-up and posseting every day, I trailed muslin cloths behind me for a while - had them in every room and every bag.

As far as my milk ducts are concerned, I should have had triplets.
There was a young girl from Rabat
Who had triplets: Nan, Pat, and Tat.
It was fun in the breeding,
but hell in the feeding,
as she found she had no tit for Tat.

Weasel learning to suck her thumb was hilarious. She'd smack herself in the face then sliiiiide the hand down till her thumb was at mouth level and then sucksucksucksuck. She was what, eight or nine weeks when she got it sorted.

Aww, I remember the Oyster learning to suck his thumb. (He did it successfully at 2 days, with a very practised air, but it was harder to do deliberately.)

He had a good technique at about nine weeks: lying on his back, he'd sort out his hand first, putting it on the floor or mattress beside his ear, then bring his face around to find it.
