I popped in to the hospital today to see a consultant about my wisdom teeth.

I have surgery booked: both left ones out on the last Thursday in July and the upper right one out on the last Thursday in August. I could have had both left ones out tomorrow but thought childcare might be difficult to arrange satisfactorily - it's Linnea's fifth birthday.

The consultant said I'd need to take two or three days to recover from the first lot. So a Thursday afternoon seems good.

Any reason why they won't do them all together?

The lower left one is expected to be problematic, but I don't know whether that constitutes a *reason*, exactly. I was somewhat dazzled by the physical beauty of the doctor, to be honest, so I didn't ask incisive questions, though I did say I needed as few appointments as possible so that I could manage childcare, but also needed to be functional as soon as possible after the op so that I could do it myself.

Ah, are you having them out under local then? That would explain it!

They do that a lot more now, they consider general too much of a risk to use it for something that's not already potentially life-threatening where possible. Or so they told me at the hospital.

Mine came out under general because of the trouble they were going to have removing them, and because I've assisted in wisdom teeth extraction surgery!
