Never mind, some other time. Tomorrow morning we're all (all four of us) going to see what the Friends Meeting House is like. Bit trepidatious but there you go. Worst that can happen is we don't like it and leave, politely.

Well, we could be hit by a meteorite while there, but that's not terribly likely.

Please tell us what you find. I have always thought of Friends as being welcoming, pacifist, introverted, charitable, and quite low key.
Yes? No?

I'll look forward to hearing how it goes! I have never been to a Friends' Meeting, but I've always been curious.

We have one here, I'd be interested in what you think. I've been to the buidling as a budhist nun runs meditation sessions in it.

I have quite a few accquaintances and one or two friends that are *Friends* and it does seem like a really loving and wonderful place to be.

As a child I could avoid church which I hated by going to "Meeting" with my best friend's family who's mum is a quaker.

I learned the value of silence in a good way - my friend and I always found it amusing that teachers at schools would try and punish us by silence - cos 10 minutes was way shorter than meeting. Even an hour wasn't a problem, in many ways it was nice to have that space without distractions.
