Yesterday it was a 17-month-old battered to death in Haringey, and today it's the three-year-old and some-months-old they found stabbed to death in Manchester yesterday evening.

And this is why I have switched to getting my news via The Economist rather than the radio/tv. (Ok, I'll still listen/watch the satirical news shows but they tend not to find much humour in really horrible stuff.)

I don't understand why they have to go into detail all the time. It's as if they think people really need to know, repeatedly. Thankfully I have no television.

Wouldn't that be nice, now. But instead, people like that kill their babies and people who want to be parents to unwanted babies get put through years of hell (by the same people who fail to rescue the children who desperately need it) in the name of "proving" that they're worthy, and don't always succeed. What a lovely planet this is.

I know that on an intellectual level (having suffered badly after having Hux), but the bit of me that starves for a child with Mr Trizia doesn't always function on an intellectual level.

I wasn't just talking about murdered babies, I know about puerperal psychosis and the almost total lack of understanding and support that women suffering from it have to face. I was trying to make reference to the injustice of the adoption system and the frequent horrific failures and hypocrisies of the social services to someone who knows what it's like to be denied motherhood, at the same time, without getting completely sidetracked from the actual topic of your post. It would appear not to have worked. Am seemingly not very good at being concise *and* getting my point across.
